What is the difference between sodium silicate and potassium silicate?+
Both are water-soluble silicates and differ in the alkali cation. Sodium silicate (water glass) is the more common and more economical, used in adhesives, detergents and foundry binders. Potassium silicate gives more flexible, less efflorescent films and is preferred in coatings, welding electrodes and specialty binders.
