Its low thermal expansion, high thermal shock resistance and resistance to slag and chemical attack make it suitable for refractory bricks and mortars, foundry and investment casting, glass and ceramic kiln linings, and cement and petrochemical furnaces. What is Mullite?+

What is the difference between sintered and fused mullite?+

Both share the same base chemistry. Sintered mullite is made by firing blended alumina and silica raw materials below the melting point and has finer, more uniform porosity. Fused mullite is melted in an electric arc furnace and crystallises into larger crystals, giving higher density and better thermal shock and corrosion resistance in demanding linings.
