Frequently Asked Questions

What is PMDI (Polymeric MDI)?+

PMDI (Polymeric MDI) is the polymeric form of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate — a brown liquid containing a mix of two-ring and higher-functionality oligomers, more stable in storage than pure MDI. RAVMENT supplies PMDI in bulk and exports it worldwide — request a quote.

What is PMDI used for?+

Its main applications are rigid polyurethane insulation foam, wood panel binders for OSB and particleboard, foundry binders, adhesives, coatings and gap-filling foams. RAVMENT supplies PMDI in bulk and exports it worldwide — request a quote.

What is the difference between PMDI and pure (monomeric) MDI?+

Both are MDI. Pure (monomeric) MDI is largely the two-ring 4,4' isomer and gives elastomers and high-performance products with well-defined properties. PMDI also contains higher-functionality oligomers, so it crosslinks more and produces rigid foams and boards; it stays liquid at room temperature and stores more easily. NCO content and viscosity are given on the specification sheet. RAVMENT supplies PMDI in bulk and exports it worldwide — request a quote.
